Iron is one of the main building blocks of the universe. Since the beginning of times, the violent explosion of stars or supernovas has been showering the cosmos with this element essential to sustain life. This space irrigation process gave birth to the different planetary bodies and established a permanent delivery system of iron for early civilizations.
In 1925, archeologist Howard Carter discovered an iron dagger of meteorite origin in Tutankhamun’s 14th century BC tomb. Carter's finding proved that occasional falling meteorites provided us with a limited supply of extraterrestrial iron even thousands of years before we learned how to extract it from our own planet.
Eventually, we learned how to transform iron into much tougher stainless-steel by blowing pure oxygen into it and adding a few more ingredients like Chromium, Nickel and Molybdenum.
Roundel’s products are made of austenitic 316L stainless-steel, often referred to as “surgical or marine grade steel”. This corrosion resistant metal alloy clearly outperforms other metals when considering durability and offers an excellent alternative for wearers with allergies to base metals such as copper or brass.
